The Educational Arts Team provides workshops in a wide variety
of settings from school and community programs to festival
celebrations for organizations such as churches. The techniques
Educational Arts uses in these various situations range from
more formal workshops structured similar to the approach used
in the school programs to a more festive approach using art
and story telling at celebration events. Our presenters tailor
the content and approach to the age range of the participating
children. Costs for the workshop programs vary based on requirements.
Self Empowerment
Workshops are generally sponsored by a community-based
organization or corporate sponsor. Self Empowerment workshop
series are aimed at changing young people's attitudes about
social issues such as substance abuse and violence by emphasizing
self-respect and a positive self-image. The workshops are
for children ranging in age from 5-14.
For younger children, ages 5-9, we use Life Lessons,
stories to teach important lessons about cooperation, trust,
sharing and bullying.
For children, ages 10-12, we use Pop-up Puppet Theatre
and Story Teller's Hat activities such as cooperative
art, puppets, songs and storytelling to learn about how to
get along with one another and address social issues such
as bullying.
For ages 13-14 we do Television Production workshops
designed to help young people reflect on how violence impacts
upon their lives and the lives of others. The program uses
role playing and imagination to develop "television news
shows" about such issues as: substance abuse, community
responsibility, bullying, and violence.
(For more in-depth descriptions of the techniques for the
above workshops go to the Student Workshops page in the School
Programs section of the website.)

Family
After-School Arts Enrichment: Often after-school programs
are enhanced by bringing in artists and art organizations
to provide a more focused learning experience for the children.
The Educational Arts Team provides a single or series of workshops
for after school programs that let children and parents explore
their amazing talents alongside Educational Arts Team artists.
Workshop themes such as art, dance and drama bring families
closer together in a community setting. Arts and crafts activities
are generally seasonal or theme based. Typically for groups
of 10-25 participants.
Quote From A Parent Attending An Arts Enrichment Program:
"This program was a great opportunity for me and
my daughter to share quality time together. The art was great
and the people were very helpful and friendly. Thank You!"

School
or Community Hosted
Family-Celebrations: Many schools host
social events in order to allow parents, teachers and children
to get better acquainted as a community. These events can
be at the school or at an off-campus site such as a picnic
area. The Educational Arts Team is a wonderful resource schools
can draw upon to engage the parents and children in activities
that are both festive and engaging while at the same time
setting the tone for a type of learning environment that reflects
the school's goals.
Young children and their parents celebrate the magical world
of story, art, music and drama in Family Celebrations. Arts
and crafts activities are seasonal or theme based and include
pariscraft masks, button making, face painting and body art.
Family Celebrations are joyful occasions for the entire family,
fostering healthy family connections and relationships between
parents and their young children. The setting is generally
a large group gathering of 50-300 adults and children.
Quote From Helen Aiosa, Former Principal Of P.S. #42 In Jersey
City:
"The Family Celebration was a wonderful vehicle for
bringing our school community together. The parents, children
and staff were totally involved throughout the session - singing,
painting and sharing in a fun time."
